AF PT II

Alice is still having heart palpitations, feeling faint and irregular heartbeat. We spent the day in Addenbrookes where the have decided to keep Alice in for the night again for observation. Alice has stayed amazingly positive but I know she is really upset and worried. We think that Sid will be arriving sooner than due date…..

GRANDMA M 65th

Back from Holkham on Wed afternoon. M had 65th birthday party on Thursday evening but we had some Daft Uncle business to perform on the Mon before.

Bertie had been in Dublin for Oona’s 30th birthday, seems to have slept around 6 hours all weekend so when we picked him up from airport looked “tired and emotional”. Two hours later pick up George from railway station, had been to Aberdeen for wedding, missed flight, had no money so required Matilda to purchase new flight. Then on way back from station pick up Charlie who had been in pub for 5 hours and had gained a bad giggle habit. Dinner was interesting and ended with Charlie deciding that a pint of Coffee syrup was a very tasty alcoholic concoction.

65th Party on Wed 29th went well, team photo below:

Fri 30th quiet day, planned for London but thought an rest day was best option. Last drink with George at Half Moon.

HOLKHAM VICTORIA

We both fulfilled a long standing wish to stay at the Victoria Hotel in Holkham. Travelled up on Tue July 21st, stayed overnight and came back on Wed. As brilliant as it looks.

Walked on beach Tue PM with meal in the restaurant on Tue evening. Went well until my conversation clearly became too boring and Alice dropped off….actually not that funny as Alice fainted briefly I caught her and she came round after a few seconds. Alice was particularly annoyed as she was going to have desert for a change!

Run on beach Wed AM which I have to say is possibly the most wonderful run I have experienced (and that is over 35 years). The beach was empty apart from me, breathtaking. Just wish Alice as with me, life is about sharing those moment with the one you love. it will happen.

Walk around the grounds and headed home.

UNCLE TONY VISIT

A very rare visit from brother Tony. just happened to be the wettest July weekend on record. Ikea on Saturday morning, Stortford Beer festival PM when there was brief view of the sun. Sunday morning to Tate Modern….not sure Tony appreciated Cy Twombly, with which I can much sympathise.

A WEEK OFF

All behind with posts so the next all relate to the end of July. Booked a week off with the intention of going to Ibiza and Standon Calling, neither of which were possible due to “ongoing medical condition”….so jobs to do!

AF

Entries are getting a bit out of chronological order, we had visit to Harlow A&E on Wed 8th as Alice had a heart rate of over 200. She had experienced palpitations over the last few weeks and high rate but this was extended so we went to A&E. rather worrying that we soon had two cardiac consultants in attendance, but they did bring down the rate eventually after using a drug that they said would make you feel like “it is the end of the world”….Alice confirmed that.

Spent a night in hospital in Cardiac Care Unit, with aged heart troubled patients, all night gurgling, beeping and occasional vomiting didn’t make for a good nights sleep.

After echo cardiogram the consultant has told us that Alice has atrial flutter (AF) so would require a minor op post birth.

Back home on Thursday. Alice is now on beta-blockers until Sid appears. This has got Alice down as everything was going so well, but dealing with one thing at a time.

BIRTHDAY 56

20150710_182512

Just realised that this blog is the wrong name….should be olddadabolg | Dad over 56!

Had a great day, grand selection of All Saints clothes from Alice and cards from all children plus communication which is always a bonus.

Most of a bottle of champagne in the afternoon watching Wimbledon. We had tickets but couldn’t go because of AF (more to follow).

Dinner at Catherine Wheel, too much red wine and consequent hangover. Not sure whether it is age, quantity drunk or low regular intake but hangovers seem to happen at from a lower input.
