PICNIC

Picinic in the park. Last day of Spring Term, Mabel finished at 12.00 so picked her up, walked home.

Beautiful day for end of March. Played soft tennis, oddly Mabel’s eye ball co-ordination is not naturally great. However from Parents Consultation on Thursday :

Literacy: her handwriting has got smaller; she is writing little passages herself with connectives and correcting her own work

Reading: doing really well, linking more complex sounds, starting to read for pleasure

Mathematics: despite being so creative and imaginative, Mabel is very good at following processes in maths and she is very capable, choosing to complete more challenging activities

So Academic?

Tomorrow she is going to GC with Alice, same resort we have gone to for years. I couldn’t do that, want to keep the good memories from there in the past box.

JUST A THOUGHT

Odd day. Thing is I have spent this year building myself up to realise I am not a complete waster or more importantly a bad person. And nothing special either.

So the next 12 months, from 15 January need to be different. Enough thinking and analysis. Time to look forward and plan ahead.

Haha…. watch this space. Need to move forward now.

COVID HITS

After a sequence of Beckley’s going under, and Mabel having close contact, have done LFT to Mabel today. Positive. My last LFT pack but assume I have it. Neither of us have any symptoms but Alice is suffering so I will take Mabel back tomorrow morning. Bank Holiday today, back to work tomorrow.

Bit miffed tbh, Alice knew that almost all Mallard’s household had tested positive. Charlie, Bertie, Una, but let Mabel come over for the weekend. In my view purely so they could have New Year weekend, then test after. So exposing me. Should have kept Mabel.

We had a chilled weekend. Saw Clifford the big red dog, brilliant. First time I have heard her laugh in a grown up kind of way.

Sales shopping. Lego, drawing. David Bowie. Too much pad, resolution this year, more outdoors and movement.

ONE MORE 😂

One more beer and back to cook Gammon, Champagne chilling and watch something stimulating, or more likely trite rubbish. Hey, it’s Christmas Day, don’t beat yourself up (note to self as New Year resolution)

CHRISTMAS

Its Christmas! Sitting in Wetherspoons on my own, but not sad or unhappy, quite content actually. Out last night with the Mighty Dom, wander round town. Half Moon of course, sat at the window seat that Alice and I had watched the world go by on many Sunday afternoons. World still going by. Lot younger clientele these days, and your shoes don’t stick to the carpet. Met some new people, Matt recently separated from wife, 46, back at parents. He was obviously sad about that, bloody tough, but we did cheer him up. Isaac son of old drinking buddy, fine to talk to an old fart, and fired up with life. Seeing young people happy, confident and seeing a bright future is so satisfying.

Cricket Club next, really pleased to see Charlie AKA Towels. Bit gloomy there so back to Moon. More, too many beers, danced to whatever was on, Jona Lewie! What a dance tune…not.

So, today. Had opportunities to have Christmas dinner with others but that has fallen though, so hanging out at Spoons with an even more odd bunch than normal. Don’t want to say sad, but, I think so in some cases.

Spoken to all my wonderful children. And Mum of course, who tells me it is just a normal Saturday, fair enough.

What will next year bring? 😃

New Start.. blogging wise

An early New Year resolution. To post in real time.

Llangollen, been here 3 days and of course nothing but lovely. Time with my children and grandchildren is so precious and important. We disappear so quickly.

Last night had a stay at Caitlin’s hotel, thank you for that Caitlin ❤️. Really good space and time, self indulgence. Ate in restaurant on my own, 2 glasses of great red, finishing off Girl, Woman, Other. Then watching Arena interview with Bernadette Avaristo, oh my, insperational.

Met up with Conor and Jess, walked along canal. Rained most of the way, but Oscar and Ava, no complaints. They have been so good all the time with me. Oscar told me he loves me. Ava not so certain, managed a few hugs, will get there.

Now at local hostelry, watching football, feeling mellow.
