HARES & FULL MOON WHF

This jaunt wasn’t planned with me coming along. Plan was for me to be in Wales but Caitlin had things pre-booked, so as it turns out that was fortunate.

Shepherds Hut on a farm just one hour away. White Horse Farm (WHF).

Met by the friendly owner Rob. Lovely plot and weather brilliant.

Inside its lovely and cosy.

Off to local and early night.

Went for walk in the morning and saw a family of hares playing in the next field. Really amazing. Find hares rather magical. Didn’t have a camera, damn.

On Saturday went to Framligham castle. Walked the walls.

WELLS @ THE GLOBE

We first came here Oct 2020 before we went to Center Parcs. I had thought about it regularly but had forgotten exactly where it was.

We drove up after work Friday, Mrs B’s unerring directional guidance system seems to have been hacked so our journey took in the sights of Walsingham and other narrow backroads. No rush…

Keys, room, dump bags, beers. Bite to eat, bed.

After excellent breakfast we headed out for walk to Holkham along the beach. Considering we are both still suffering from an attack of Covid arguably optimistic. Alice insisted we leave the hotel square via one corner that was in the direction of the sea, I said it was the opposite but off we went. Thirty minutes later, back to our start point, no rush.

Lucky with the weather, sunny and dry, no wind. The walk from Wells to Holkham via the beach has to be a classic, stunning.

Started to notice dogs everywhere, even though sign says No Dogs. Dogs everywhere is a running theme through the weekend. Already had enough of dogs.

We intended to walk to Holkham and have a beer and lunch in The Victoria. However, closed to non-residents. A bugger…..but we then caught the coastal bus. Well, I can’t tell you how excited I found Alice once I walked up the stairs to find her front of the top deck gripping the handrail with a huge grin. We both laughed all the way back to Wells (all of 10 minutes), not sure why, maybe somehow took us back to the school bus.

ALDEBURGH CHRISTMAS

We decided an a weekend break after school term end. One of our favourite places with lots of great memories. Some a bit weird, but will come to The Continental Cafe later 😉

Found a perfect Airbnb with a view of the sea and location very close to town centre. Spare bedroom, Lola was staying with us so a party of four.

Arrived early evening, really quiet. Quite magical.

Fish and chips supper….of course 😀

Woke up to an amazing sunrise

Alice run, seems very pleased

Beach walk

Stroll through the shops. I nipped in to Thai Street Cafe for quick pint. This was the Continental Cafe Alice and I spent a mad afternoon in before Mabel was born. Even then Aldeburgh was becoming gentrified but the Continental Cafe seemed the last holdout of the local misfits and characters. This was previously a Pharmacy and the old large dusty bottles still in the window, suspect pharmaceuticals were still available 😀. That time somehow ended upstairs with the locals watching horse racing, nope no idea why!

Still retains a seedy air with only 3 beers on tap. And local characters still available.

Saturday evening meal in Prezzo. Lola babysat while we had a few in the Cafe, good fun.

Sunday morning we walked the run Alice did Saturday. Fabulous, cold and clear.
