LLANGOLLEN WEEKEND

Weekend jaunt to see Caitlin.

Good journey down, Christmas Fair was on so good timing. Also a parade, tad bizarre as there were tractors and a steam engine, fire engine and finally Father Christmas in green, must be a Welsh thing.

Wandered down to Train Station, no trains today.

Lovely to see Oscar, really happy little boy and good to see some Brooks genes in there. Ava and Mabel played together really well. Both getting to be big girls now.

Stayed in Gales Hotel, very nice. Evening dinner, Mabel slept in buggy which of course meant two bottles of wine. Just nice to have some time together, as grown ups. Sore heads in morning!

Sunday walk to local park and head home. Decided we would come back for a week n the summer and rent a cottage.

Sadly lost wallet, not concerned about money, actually none in there but Alice bought me the wallet a long time ago so hope it just turns up some time. Think Mabel hid it in somewhere odd.

DAD

Mum had to go in to hospital due to a bleed. This meant Tony had to stay and look after Dad. This is quite a job at the moment, he needs a lot of care, putting to bed, and cleaning up in the morning. I went down to help on Sunday and stayed overnight, worked from GY in the day and cam back in the evening.

Looking after a parent in this way is very upsetting in many ways, not how you wish to see them of course. I know he isn’t aware but it is hard to see my lovely Dad so helpless. Sometimes you can see a flicker of recognition, but then things close down. Strange though as I left he said Cheerio Martin with a voice and manner like he always did. Seemed to me that he was saying a final goodbye until it all fades away.

CONOR VISIT

Conor down for weekend. Late Friday arrival, Saturday breakfast at Home & Eat, few beers at The Cock later. Film in the evening, traditionally we both fall asleep while watching. And glad to see we kept that tradition alive.

Lunch with Lola, Charlie and Lily at Three Horseshoes on Sunday.

two handsome chaps, can see where he gets his good looks from…
